5 Aerial Pilates Principles with Rafael Martinez

5 BASES OF THE AEROPILATES® METHOD
AeroPilates® is an artistic method of correction and postural awareness in weightlessness.
Rafael Martinez has developed the AeroPilates® system since the last decade. It is registered as a method (Pilates Aéreo ©) and as an international brand AeroPilates®.



1-This revolutionary suspension system has been inspired by the principles of such renowned techniques as Pilates, the Alexander method, Anti Gymnastics, Holistic Gymnastics, Girotonic, Feldenkrais, contemporary dance, hypo-pressure exercises, exercises of Kegel, Yoga or art therapy.

2-The Aerial Pilates is a method that seeks to be something more than pilates on a swing.

Rafael Martinez has developed Pilates Aéreo © since the last decade, from studies of contemporary dance, plastic arts in Paris and Berlin, 2 years of anatomy at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and certification of 4 years of yoga at an international level: Rafael has devised a system of correction and postural awareness, with the use of a special swing with arms and grips and under the supervision of medical specialists in sports medicine.



3-The AeroPilates® method bases its work on the dialogue of conscious breathing, suspended work and postural awareness.

4-Its objectives are to eliminate bodily tensions, promote vitality and rediscover one's own body, without limitations (suitable for all -with several intensity levels) to work body and mind with less effort and more efficiently.



5-It allows the body to work, expand and grow without limits in a progressive and harmonious way.

Hello! I'm Rafael Martinez, creator of the AeroPilates® method.

AeroPilates® uses the Aerial Pilates swing tool to promote the student's awareness and postural correction thanks to work in suspension.

This total or partial suspension helps to isolate the different body areas to work independently and at the same time holistic, considering  the body, as a whole in addition to the physical, functional breathing and a mental state of full concentration in the exercise.

The breathing in the AeroPilates® method is calledfunctional because it is an integral part of the exercise and is closely related to the correction of the posture.

It consists of a thoracic breathing where the abdominal and pelvic muscles are activated at the same time. 

This makes us strengthen the abdominal and deep abdominal muscles, the so-called core or center in the traditional pilates.

The AeroPilates® method comprises hundreds of postures and variations in which the student rediscovers the potential of his body and mind thanks to work in total or partial suspension.
